Another exciting Harold In Italy travel Experience. Join Harold for this unusual culinary discovery to the island of Sardinia. Be among the first to explore this seldom visited region of Italy. Will you join us?
6 nights in Sardina. June 2012. Call for details. Subject to availability.
We designed this experience at the request of our friends. We are now pleased to offer it to you! Harold invites you to join him as we discover the treasures of Sardinia.
This is a 6-nights’ immersion in wine, food and the people of Sardinia… a genuine contact with local people. The accommodation is in a charming -and well managed- small hotel in the tiny village of Riola Sardo just north of Oristano on the west central coast.
This is a sustainable tourism experience, as it is based on respect for the local culture and for Sardinia’s natural environment as well as seasonal produce.

LOCATION
One of Sardinia’s most interesting areas is around the ancient Carthaginian stronghold of Oristano built on reclaimed marshland and the centre of Sardinian rice cultivation. On the Northern promontory of the Gulf of Oristano we find the ruins of Tharros in magnificent surroundings. The original urban complexes, temples, houses, and baths make Tharros one of the most important and complete Mediterranean sites. Just north of this area is the Montiferru. Here curvy roads, going up-hill and down, lead to the seaside. It is home for a traditional beef breed of remarkable quality. You can easily find top producers of cheese and wines. The area is also known for its white, desert-like beaches.
THE CHARMING HOTEL
The hotel is an historical house in the heart of the village of Riola Sardo, near Oristano, on Sardinia’s West Coast. The hotel maintains the atmosphere of old times, when all the activities connected with field labor were performed “in house”. In the inner garden and courtyard you will still find the wine cellar, the well, the grain well, the oven to bake bread, all surrounded by centuries-old trees. Your cooking classes will take place in the old kitchen. The hotel has been perfectly restored.
